Sanitation & Recycling
The Public Works Superintendent oversees the Sanitation Department, which is responsible for trash collection for the City of Augusta's 3,300+ residential, 120 commercial, and 90 multi-residential customers. The department also operates a compost and limb dropoff site to dispose of compost, grass clipping, leaves, and limbs. Compost and mulch are available for free to Augusta residents. The City also offers a recycling program for plastics, aluminum & tin, glass, paper, and cardboard. Recycling dropoff locations are provided at 400 Grove and in the Walmart/Dillons parking lot. City also operates an E waste plan (computers, phones, etc.) Take items to Sanitation barn on Saturdays 9:30 to 4:30.
2012 Holiday Schedule - Sanitation Routes will be altered throughout the year because of New Year's Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thursday and Friday of Thanksgiving , two days at Christmas (depends on when it falls).
Please feel free to call City Hall a week or two ahead of each of the holidays to find out specific schedule.
