On December 2, 2000 the City of
Augusta initiated a recycling program to help reduce the waste stream to the
Butler County Landfill.
This program includes an enclosed recycling facility just west of the compost facility located on
Grove Street.
Glass: All glass is accepted, colored or clear (e.g. drink containers, bottles, jars, etc)
Tin: All tin cans are accepted, removing labels is not required (e.g. food containers, pet food cans, etc)
Office Paper: All paper is accepted, shredded or not (e.g. mail, printer paper, notebook paper, etc)
Newspaper: All newspaper is accepted
Aluminum: All aluminum cans accepted (e.g. pop cans, beer cans, etc)
Cardboard: Corrugated Cardboard needs to be clear of all plastic and styrofoam, including all trash. Chip board is currently accepted.* *Subject to change.
Plastic: Only #1 and #2 plastic is being accepted at this time. Please remove all lids. (e.g. pop bottles, water bottles, milk containers, shampoo bottles, detergent bottles, etc)
