City of Augusta Kansas

Augusta is a city of the 2nd Class and has adopted the Mayor/Council/Manager form of government.  The Mayor is elected for a four-year term and each Council Member serves a four-year term.  The terms are staggered so that every two years, four Council positions (one from each ward) are up for re-election.  Serving as a City Council Member is a part-time duty.  The majority of Council Members have full-time jobs in addition to their City Council duties.

The Augusta City Council meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first and third Monday of each month.  The meetings are open to the public and held at the Augusta City Hall, 113 E 6th Avenue.  Meetings are also broadcast live via Local Government Access Channel 7.  Minutes are available on the City's website.
