NOTICE:

MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTIONS
EFFECTIVE JULY 12, 2011

Beginning on July 12, 2011, the City of Augusta will implement mandatory water restrictions in accordance with sections 15-601 through 15-609 of the City’s Code of Ordinances. The lack of significant rain, extended period of extremely high temperatures, evaporation and high winds have resulted in a massive decrease in the water level of the City Lake, which is a required resource to meet the peak water demands of the city and our wholesale customers. The mandatory water restrictions are necessary to ensure an adequate supply of water for essential uses to our community and wholesale customers, as well as providing adequate fire protection. The City will be reducing the amount of water provided to the City’s wholesale customers (including the City of Mulvane) proportionately, as allowed by their contracts.

This mandatory ban restricts all waste of water, defined in 15-602(c) as including, but not limited to permitting water to escape down a gutter, ditch, or other surface drain, or the failure to repair a controllable leak of water due to defective plumbing.

Contact the Utility Office at (316)775-4555 with any questions about the mandatory restrictions, to report violations, and to register/re-register a well.
