City to Begin Rehabilitation of State Street Water Tower on Monday March 14

On March 14, 2022, the City of Augusta will begin the rehabilitation of the State Street Water Tower.  The work will include repairing and repainting the tower, including the addition of the new Augusta logo, and will be completed by Viking Painting LLC over an estimated 65-day period.  Their crew will work 12-hour days to complete the project from 7 AM to 7 PM Monday through Saturday.

The State Street Water Tower is an integral part of our water distribution system, working in sequence with Augusta’s other water towers to deliver clean water to our residences and businesses.  Completing this rehabilitation will require that the tower be taken offline temporarily.  This could potentially impact water pressure levels throughout the community, with properties closer to the State Street Water Tower likely seeing a more significant impact.

Throughout the duration of the project, the City will be running the high service pumps at the Water Plant around the clock in an effort to keep water pressure up.  However, we cannot guarantee that the impact will not still be noticeable.  The City is working with the contractor to complete the rehabilitation quickly and minimize the impact on Augusta residents and businesses.  We encourage our residents to be mindful of their water usage during this time, and we appreciate your patience as we complete this vital upgrade to our water distribution system.
