City of Augusta Receives $15,000 Grant from The Skatepark Project

The City of Augusta is thrilled to announce that we have been selected to receive a $15,000 grant from the Skatepark Project (formerly known as the Tony Hawk Foundation) to put towards the construction of the Augusta Community Skatepark!

To date, The Skatepark Project grants have helped to create nearly 700 public skateparks across the US, enjoyed by an estimated 6 million people annually and improving our communities through more access to free, public, fun recreation. Thank you to all the advocates, donors, business owners, and more who have supported the project thus far!

The City is currently waiting to hear back on final approval for our Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant application, which has been recommended for approval to the National Park Service by the State of Kansas. This application was for $104,489.50 in funding, which, barring an unexpectedly large donation, will be necessary to construct our chosen preliminary design.  The City has been informed that the NPS is significantly backlogged on reviewing LWCF applications, so it could take a while for us to hear back about final approval.



In the meantime, this grant from the Skatepark Project will help us cover any increases to the cost of the project. Our community advocates will also continue their fundraising efforts, which will include an effort to raise additional funding for the purchase of a shade structure at the skatepark.
