Memorial Day Decorations Must be Removed from Grass in Elmwood Cemetery Prior to June 13, 2022

NOTICE: Please remove all Memorial Day grave decorations from the grass in Elmwood Cemetery prior to Monday, June 13, 2022.

Elmwood Cemetery regulations state that permissible decorations may be placed in the grass adjacent to graves three days prior to Memorial Day and must be removed within 14 days following Memorial Day.

Please make sure that all grave decorations are in compliance with Section 12-547 of City Code prior to Monday, June 13. This regulation prohibits decorations from being placed in the grass at Elmwood Cemetery during the growing season (March 1-November 15) except for the aforementioned Memorial Day decorations. The purpose of this requirement is to clear the grass for maintenance and mowing by staff.

Starting June 13, 2022, all non-compliant decorations will be disposed of by City staff. Please see the flyer below for examples of decorations that are compliant and non-compliant with City Code.
