2024 Budget & Revenue Neutral Rate Public Hearings

2024 RNR Hearing

On Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the City Council Chambers of City Hall, the City of Augusta will conduct public hearings to take feedback on the 2024 Budget and the City’s plans to exceed the Revenue Neutral Rate.

The mill levy published in the public hearing notice is based upon the estimated valuation that is provided by Butler County.  The valuation number and mill levy will be adjusted by the County after all pending property tax exemptions have been resolved and will become final in November 2023.

The amount of property taxes to be levied for 2024 totals $4,624,585, representing a proposed mill levy of 57.968 mills. Our Revenue Neutral Rate calculated by Butler County is 53.410 mills. The proposed mill levy is a 1.625 decrease from the 2023 mill levy of 59.593 and an increase of 0.307 mills compared to the 2022 mill levy.  The proposed mill levy is based on the direction provided by the governing body during the budget work sessions.

The Council may choose to lower the proposed expenditures, but the expenses cannot exceed the amount published in the Public Hearing Notice.
